I Wrote A Book!
All of my life, I have struggled to believe in myself. I had a habit of giving up before I failed, and I didn’t follow through with doing things that take a little bit of faith and trust in myself.
As a kid, I quit softball before anyone had time to think I was bad. I quit soccer because I didn’t want people to think I stunk. I was afraid to try and fail at everything including relationships. I abandoned friends before they abandoned me. I never told my biggest crush in my teenage years, that I liked him. Etc.
The last few years I have decided to overcome this.
Recently, I did a thing.
About a year ago, I wrote a children’s book.
I illustrated it.
I used AI to make my illustrations better.
I edited and edited and edited.
I applied for a copyright.
I formed an LLC to self publish my book.
I waited and waited and waited for the copyright to come through.
It finally came through.
I tried to upload it to kindle, but it needed some work.
I edited and reformatted and then reformatted again like 4 more times.
Today, I finally ordered a proof of my book.
I am so excited.
My next step will be to publish!
I am doing this for the little girl who was too afraid of failure to take any meaningful chances.
I did this for my boys. I want them to have a mom who leads by example that you believe in yourself, take a step of faith, and put yourself out there regardless of the outcome.
I was gentle with myself this entire process. I clung to and will continue to cling to my tiny mustard seed size faith to propel me forward.
One baby step at a time.
We will see what happens.
I want my boys and my readers to know that imperfection and not being the best isn’t failure.
If they are out there living their life, having fun, and being brave enough to chase their dreams, they win regardless of the outcome. Even if they fail epically, they win because they tried something new and learned something in the process.
If this book is a flop, it’s still a win because I had fun writing and illustrating it, and I learned a ton!
Just little old me over here healing my inner child one minute at a time.
