Toxic Air

Those who know me well know, toxic things kinda freak me out. I’m quirky and too educated in this way. Once you know, you can’t un-know.

I do my best to eliminate toxins from our lives. This includes but is not limited to eliminating toxic so called “food,” purging our wardrobes of polyester and other like materials, avoiding plastic as much as possible, only using nontoxic cleaning supplies such as peroxide, vinegar, and essential oils, throwing away our microwave, turning our WiFi off at night, not using most candles or air fresheners etc.

I do what I know to do and let God handle the rest, and I have peace about it… usually.

However, my family being exposed to toxic fumes really gets to me. Like sends me in a panicking spiral. Particularly, the kids being around things like paint or stain fumes, toxic cleaner fumes, cigarette or cigar smoke etc.

Today, we walked out of church and the sky was/is hazy, and the air literally feels and smells toxic. Apparently there are fires in NYC and the smoke has come our way.

I started panicking and stressing about us, but mostly the boys being exposed to this.

We got home, and I was snapping at Erik and Eli to hurry up and get inside and close the door. I started feeling super edgy and stressed.

We needed some groceries, so I left Erik and the boys to watch the poor Giants lose… again.

Anyway, while I was out, I kept hearing, in my head,  the lyrics to a song they sang at church today,

“Fix your eyes on this one truth, God is madly in love with you.”

While these lyrics played in my head, I saw a bird soaring through the smoke filled sky.

I was reminded of Matthew 6:26-27, “Look at the birds of the air, for they neither sow nor reap nor gather into barns; yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not of more value than they? Which of you by worrying can add one cubit to his stature?”

God is in control, and He loves us.

“Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.” Philippians 4:6-7

I took a breath, I prayed, I bought a couple more plants to purify the air in my house, and apologized to my family for being a lunatic.

Now, I’m going to trust God and have a good day.

Peace and love, friends. ✌🏼💕🌻
